Current Host of AmeriCarna and Consultant to Hendrick Companies
Former NASCAR Crew Chief and Team Owner

Ray Evernham is one of the greatest NASCAR crew chiefs and most successful car owners in the history of the sport.  Ray revolutionized the NASCAR crew chief role as Jeff Gordon’s crew chief during the 1990s at Hendrick Motorsports. Together, they earned three NASCAR Winston Cup championships and 47 wins in only 216 starts, including two Daytona 500 victories and the inaugural Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis. His success earned him “Crew Chief of the Decade” honors in 2000 and his innovative work with pit crews continues to set the performance standard used today. In 2006, the media voted Ray the “Greatest Crew Chief of All-Time.”

Ray retired from the crew chief role in 2000 and became a team owner himself by teaming up with Daimler Chrysler performance brand Dodge to spearhead the unproven manufacturer’s re-entry into NASCAR. A historic Daytona 500 pole with Bill Elliott out of the gate in 2001 set the stage for the Evernham Motorsports team to become one of the leading teams over the much of the decade.  In 2007, Ray sold Evernham Motorsports in what is still the largest transaction of its kind in NASCAR history.

Ray has been a car guy ever since he started racing short tracks at age 15 in his home state of New Jersey. Today, Ray wears many hats inside the racing and automotive industries, which include representing top automotive performance lines, serving as a consultant to Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group, car collecting, vintage car restoration and preservation, custom car design, television production and hosting his own television show, AmeriCarna.

Ray is also very active with the Evernham Family Racing for a Reason charitable foundation that supports a variety of beneficiaries. With help from the Autism Society of North Carolina, Evernham formed a program called IGNITE for young adults with high functioning autism (HFA) and Asperger’s Syndrome (AS). IGNITE offers activities, skills training, and educational workshops that will foster social, financial, educational, and employment independence for its members.
